Labrador Retrievers are large energetic sporting dogs with high
intelligence and an inherent desire to please. For 18 consecutive years now, they have been #1 in
popularity in the U.S. according to the American
Kennel Club registration statistics. They are great family dogs since they love children and
are easily trained. Labs love water and excel at retrieving, making
them excellent hunting companions.
Their intelligence and stable personalities make them ideal for
assistance work, including guide dogs, service dogs, police work (drug
and bomb detection), and search and rescue work. Superior noses make
them great trackers. These fun-loving canines also enjoy agility work
which requires smarts plus athleticism.
